In July 2022 I made a football ground turf paperweight for a fan of Tonbridge Angels FC, since they were replacing their grass pitch with an artificial pitch.

Recently I was contacted by Elliot who is a fan of Portsmouth Football Club (nicknamed ‘Pompey’) who at the time were playing in EFL league One and were on the verge of promotion to the Championship.
Elliot wanted me to make a custom resin paperweight containing a piece of Fratton Park turf (the home ground of Portsmouth F.C.) when Pompey got promoted so that he could keep it as a keepsake of the occasion.
On 16th April 2024, Portsmouth F.C. gained promotion to the Championship after a 3-2 win against Barnsley at Fratton Park and becoming League One champions.
I set the piece of Fratton Park turf within a custom resin dome shaped paperweight. and this is the completed paperweight.

Congratulations to Portsmouth on their promotion and I hope the paperweight gives Elliot fond memories on the achievement for many years to come. I have watched the televised video of the Portsmouth fans running onto the pitch at the end of the match but have not managed to spot the moment Elliot reached down and pocketed a piece of the Fratton Park turf!
