Sivvy horse hair jewellery in racing colours

Recently I was honoured to be asked to make some horse hair jewellery, in the form of a pendant and keyring in memory of a much-loved Mark Walford trained racehorse Event of Sivola (known as “Sivvy”).

Sadly, Sivvy lost his life during a race in Perth May 2024 ,and I was asked to make the horsehair jewellery in memory of him for those closest to the horse.

I was asked to make a resin teardrop shaped keyring, containing a sample of the horse hair, silver lettering for the name “Sivvy” The backing to the keyring would also need to be coloured (to match the racing colours) of pink and yellow quarters (i.e. coloured to resemble a Battenburg cake). This has been the first time that I have been asked to colour the resin pendant in quarters; it proved a little challenge, but anything is doable, and I always like a challenge!

I really enjoyed making this horse hair jewellery and I hope that those close to Sivvy now have a lovely keepsake of their wonderful horse.
